Lake County Radio
Amateur Civil Emergency Services (R.A.C.E.S.) conducts ARRL VE
ham radio license testing for all license classes (written and
Morse code elements) every month at 7:00 PM at the Lake County
Sheriff's EOC building (EMA Classroom) in Libertyville
(normally the 2nd Monday, 3rd Monday in
September).

Our VE team can be available to coordinate
special testing sessions for your club events, training
sessions and hamfests. Contact our VE Liaison (see below) for
additional information and availability.

To register for a session use our

Registration or call (847) 543-0507 - Please leave a
message with your name, phone number, test date and the tests
that you are planning to take.
We appreciate the courtesy of an advance
notice for your test session to help us determine the proper
size of the VE team for each session. We may limit walk-ins
depending on the volume of candidates. Pre-registered
applicants get priority for registration and testing whenever
possible.
Directions
The EOC is located on Milwaukee half way between Route 137 on
the North and Route 176 on the South. West of I-94 and east of
Butterfield Road and Route 45. The entrance to the parking
area is off Winchester Rd. 1/8 mile (2nd driveway) west of
Milwaukee Ave. The entrance to the building is in the is in
the rear. Follow the signs to the EMA Classroom. For a map, go

Special Assistance
If applicants require special assistance for reading,
mobility, sight, hearing, access, etc., please be sure to let
the VE team know your specific requirements. We will make
every effort to accommodate your needs.
What you should bring to the test session
Test Fees
$14.00 (per test session for all tests. For those 16 years old
and under the fee is paid by Lake County R.A.C.E.S. [for first
license only - Refund issued upon successful passing of
element 2]). Please bring the exact amount or make your check
payable to Lake County R.A.C.E.S.
ID's
Two required, one with a photo.
Ham License
Bring the original and a photocopy.
CSCE
Bring the original and a photocopy.
Other Pertinent Documentation
(proof of previous license or grandfather documentation, etc.)
Bring the original and a photocopy.
